About Kaweah Construction Co.

Kaweah Construction Co. incorporated on May 13, 1952. The intent, as stated by our founder, W.M. Lyles, Sr., was "to do significant concrete construction."

Kaweah hit full stride in the 1960's as Larry Lyles and Bill Brown lead our company into the construction of water and wastewater treatment plants. Kaweah excelled as a general contractor with expertise in both concrete and mechanical construction. In addition to treatment plants, we have constructed numerous bridges, pumping stations, hydroelectric plants, cogeneration facilities, seismic bridge retrofits, communication tower facilities, and other projects utilizing our concrete and mechanical skills.

Treatment plants, both water and wastewater, have become our core business concern and our specialty. Under the leadership of Ed Jackson in the 1970's, Kaweah expanded our geographical territory to incorporate Northern California. We believe we have constructed more Central California treatment plants than any other construction firm.

On many projects, design-build offers our clients significant time and cost savings. In 1980, Kaweah performed its first design-build project for the Selma-Kingsburg-Fowler County Sanitation District. The project consisted of an aeration system using dome diffusers supplied by Norton Industries. In 1986, under the leadership of Don Brown, Kaweah commenced full turnkey construction of the $21 million Rio Bravo Hydroelectric Plant in Bakersfield, California.

In the 1990's, under the leadership of Will Lyles, Kaweah developed an active relationship with US Filter Co. which resulted in California's first long term privatized wastewater treatment plant for the City of Arvin.

Today, Kaweah continues to perform conventional design-bid public works projects while maintaining an active relationship with our partners in the design-build and privatized water and wastewater treatment plant markets.

Our success results from the ability and versatility of our employees to meet the needs of our clients and to get the job done. Our goal is to be our client's contractor of choice. This goal is achieved though our continuing performance.
